Massachusetts Senior Circuit Breaker Tax Credit
Receive up to $2730 refunded on taxes
Certain seniors who own or rent residential property in Massachusetts, as their principal residence, are eligible for a refundable tax credit.
Who is Eligible? (as of FY24)
- MA residents 65 and older
- Own or rent in MA as primary residence
- Max income of $72k (Single), $91k (HOH), or $109k (Married filing jointly)
- Property taxes plus water/sewer ≥10% of total MA income (Homeowners)
- 25% of your rent ≥10% of total MA income (Renters)
- Property assessment ≤$1,172,000 -
Taxation Aid Fund
Receive up to $1300 in taxation aid disbursements
Low income senior and disabled residents can apply for aid to pay their real estate taxes through town donations and (until 2027) the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Receive up to $1875 in annual property tax reduction
The Town of Easton is proud to offer our senior and/or veteran/surviving spouse homeowners the opportunity to work up to 125 hours in various town departments in exchange for relief on their property tax bill. The town currently provides a property tax credit in the amount of minimum wage multiplied by the amount of hours worked in a given year, not to exceed 125 hours max.

AARP Tax Aide Program
Free tax preparation assistance for persons age 50 and older
AARP Tax Aide Program is sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that provide tax preparation assistance for persons age 50 and older.

DLS Clause 41A Tax Deferral
Delay property taxes until you sell your home or upon passing away.
Property taxes may be deferred in order to allow seniors who would otherwise be unable to pay both living expenses and property taxes to indefinitely defer their tax obligations with agreement by the local tax assessor.

Masschusetts Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
Receive from $120 up to $1500 in home heating expense assistance for low-income residents
The Massachusetts Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), helps eligible renters and homeowners pay a portion of their winter heating bills. Funded by the state and provided through Self Help here in Easton, HEAP supports households across Massachusetts, regardless of the type of heating source or whether heating costs are included in rent.

Good Neighbor Energy Fund
Receive energy expense assistance for households ineligible for federal/state assistance
The Salvation Army Corps supports residents of all ages with energy assistance for those who do not qualify for state or federal energy assistance.

- Income between 60% and 80% of state median levels:
- 1-member Household: $49k-65k
- 2-member Household: $64k-85k
- 3-member Household: $79k-105k
