How to Get Involved in the Campaign to Pass an Override in Easton, MA
After years of inflation and increases in health insurance costs eating into towns’ budgets, Easton is one of the many communities across Massachusetts that is contemplating a tax override. This override would allow our community to raise the funds needed to maintain the schools, fire, police and EMS services our community has always benefitted from and relied upon. Without an override, these services will face serious cuts; for example, our town will lose one of its two ambulances, and our schools will lose forty-five positions. SOS Easton is a campaign run by a group of community members in support of passing the override.
If you would like to learn more about Easton’s finances, see the SOS Easton FAQs and the PASE FAQs page.
Please see below for five ways to get more involved in the campaign to pass an override in Easton and protect our public services! Pick something that fits your capacity- every little bit counts!
1. Attend Town Meeting on May 19th and vote on June 10th
On May 19th, Town Meeting attendees will vote on whether Easton should put an override question on the ballot on June 10th. We will need maximum turnout on both of these dates to help the override pass, so please put both dates on your calendar now and make arrangements!

Donations allow us to print lawn signs and flyers and maybe even buy an ad on social media to get the word out. Please know that our campaign is registered with the town and has a bank account- it’s all very official! Additionally, any donations that go unused by the June 10th Ballot Vote will be donated to the Taxation Aid Fund here in Easton to help defray costs of property taxes for low-income seniors.
